Human Cell Line Authentication

SNP-Based Cell Line Authentication

Reliable identification of human cell lines using advanced Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) profiling.

A cost-effective alternative to conventional STR profiling, with additional capabilities for cell line identification and contamination detection.

Order SNP Profiling →

Why choose SNP profiling?

Our SNP-based approach provides reliable genetic authentication of human cell lines and offers several advantages over conventional STR profiling.

€

Cost-effective

An affordable alternative to conventional STR-based cell line authentication.

DB

Extensive reference database

Comparison against more than 960 distinct, STR-authenticated human reference cell lines. View database overview .

DNA

Reliable identification

Robust authentication of cell lines carrying mutations in mismatch repair (MMR) genes, which can complicate conventional STR-based authentication.

%

Contamination detection

Detection of minor contaminating cell populations down to approximately 10%, depending on the genetic relatedness of the cell lines.

+

New cell line authentication

Authentication of newly established human cell lines and sublines by comparing the genetic profiles of the original donor and derived cell line.

✓

Documented results

A comprehensive authentication report provides documented evidence of cell line identity for research documentation and publications.

1. Sample preparation & submission

Prepare your samples

Extract genomic DNA using commercially available DNA purification systems, for example from Qiagen or Roche.

Download DNA extraction protocol ↓

Sample requirements

  • DNA concentration: 15–30 ng/µL
  • DNA volume: more than 15 µL
  • Sample tubes: 1.5 mL SafeLock tubes
  • Please do not use screw-cap tubes or Parafilm.

Place your order

Complete our online order form and wait for the order confirmation email.

Quick Order Form →

Label and ship your samples

  • Label each tube with the specific sample name provided in your order confirmation email.
  • Ship samples in a padded envelope.
  • Include a copy of your order confirmation email.

2. Our workflow

Once your samples arrive, Multiplexion takes care of the entire authentication process.

01

SNP profiling

Genetic profiling of the submitted cell line.

02

Database comparison

Comparison of the resulting genetic signature against reference profiles.

03

Result evaluation

Evaluation and interpretation of the authentication results.

04

Final report

Delivery of the authentication report by email.

Your authentication report

The final report documents the authentication results and can be used to support grant applications and scientific publications.

3. Turnaround time & sample delivery

Samples are processed during even-numbered calendar weeks. Results are usually delivered by email by the end of the respective processing week.

Customers in Heidelberg

Samples can be dropped off at the DKFZ building INF242 at any time.

External customers

Please ensure that samples arrive by Friday before the scheduled processing week. Samples received during a given week are held and processed in the following scheduled testing week.
